ABSTRACT:
The benefits of virtualization started off as consolidation to cut cost, but are now moving well beyond that. The benefits really extend well beyond total cost of ownership. Virtualization can help speed development cycles and add new resources faster. Virtualization tools like Live Migration and VMware's HA and Site Recovery Manager take advantage of the attributes of virtual machines for easier and more cost effective high availability and disaster recovery solutions, achieving an automated agile infrastructure built on virtualized frameworks. As virtualization matures and becomes more pervasive, it is truly the next big thing. VMware's virtual center and dynamic resource scheduler are examples of tools at the forefront of automation. They enable dynamic allocation and balancing of compute resources based on business policy.
