ABSTRACT:
Most of the web pages developed in US, has this Section 508 compliance in the requirements. This in turn makes Section 508 compliance testing mandatory during the software testing lifecycle. Specifically, compliance testing checks how effective the website is fulfilling the requirements of the law.
Generally, automated HTML code verification software tools and simulators are used for section 508 compliance testing of huge websites. But for testing comparatively smaller sites and for understanding the output of the automated tools it is advisable that the testers should have a good knowledge on the Section 508 requirements, HTML tags and the way the tags should be handled to fulfill the requirements.
This paper speaks about the 15 different requirements stated in Section 508 and the ways to check the HTML source code, so as to identify the areas in the web site which does not satisfy the requirements. This in turn will help the tester to raise quality defects with suggestions to the developers.
